Police are searching for two teenagers who allegedly assaulted a taxi driver over the weekend.

The 51-year-old cabbie drove the two youths to Rozelle early on Sunday morning, but they refused to pay the fare.

When the driver followed them to a nearby park they beat him with palings removed from a fence, before badly damaging the cab.

The injured man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police are searching for a solid, 178cm male, of white/European appearance and a skinny, 168cm male with dark olive complexion, last seen running along Evans Street towards Victoria Road.
