Taxi driver jury out
A JURY has retired to consider its verdict in the trial of a taxi driver accused of running down a passenger and killing him.
Rajbinder Singh Shahi, 30, allegedly hit and killed 17-year-old Xavier Salmon in Port Melbourne in December 2005 after the teen and 10 of his friends abused and threatened the driver.
Mr Salmon allegedly dropped the group off before making a U-turn and hitting Mr Salmon and one of his friends as they stood on the street.
The impact caused Mr Salmon to suffer fatal head injuries. Mr Shahi, of Epping, has pleaded not guilty to one count of murder.
