Taxi rivals sabotage offices

SEBOKENG.- The president and secretary of the Masoheng Taxi Association, Elias Mothobi and Kenny Bofelo, found their offices in ashes on Monday morning.

Mothobi explained that they found the office burnt when they arrived for work at 06:00, but their landlord told them that he had already seen the office burning around 01:00. According to Mothobi fire fighters were called to the scene to extinguish the fire, only for the fire to start again.

Bofelo and Mothobi suspect that the fire might have been started by a rival organisation formed by former members. The two men showed the broken window through which petrol was poured and the petrol trail leading from the building.

They said that the former members illegally put taxis on their taxi route and attacked a queue marshal. They feel that police have failed them because the attackers were not arrested.

Superintendent Maria Mazibuko confirmed that a case of arson had been opened. She concluded that there were no leads or arrests at the moment, but that investigation are still underway.
